In April 2005. for the first time in history one Croatian sailor has participated in class Mini650 sailing regatta. Mini 650 is one of the most extreme ocean sailing classes in the world. Together with fellow Slovenian sailor Kristian Hajnsek from Adria 4ocean team, Sime Stipanicev won 3rd place in one of the most difficult Classe Mini races in 2005, Odysee d'Ulyssee. It was doublehanded, 800 nm (1500 km) race without stopover, from Villefranche sul mer around Sardinia and back.After the race and excellent result, the idea about MINI TRANSAT 2007 project was born. The main idea was participation of Croatian solo sailor for the first time in history in one singlehanded ocean race. The race itself, Transat 650 2007, will be the end of two year project. During this period, Sime and his team will train and participate on qualification races which are obligatory for final goal, 4200 nm transatlantic singlehanded regatta.
