Today at 2 p.m. is the start of 500 nm doublehanded race from Port Camargue to Ajaccio (Corsica) and back. It’s a two leg course and we have a stopover in Ajaccio. Co-skipper of Mini 232 Tribunj for this regatta is Kreso Djakulovic who has arrived from Split yesterday. We are anxiously waiting for tomorrow’s start with other 50 minis at most famous class regatta in the Mediterranean. There are lot of good skippers and fast boats. It will be interesting to see how we’ll cope with them.
![]() Marina Port Camargue and minis before the race Weather forecast is not promising, it looks like we’ll struggle with no wind, mostly downwind, and for return we could expect some 20-30 knots of upwind but it’s still to early to make any prognosis on weather for the second leg which will start from Ajaccio on July 5th. ![]() Mess in the cockpit day before the race I’ve been in Port Camargue for 15 days, working hard on the boa to get everything done and prepared for this race and rest of the season. Time spent in Croatia in search for sponsors after Triangle du Soleil unfortunately didn’t give any results and I was forced to return to France with very low budget, mostly with loans from friends and family and pretty low enthusiasm about finding some serious sponsor for this project. But, it’s not much needed to get through, and my home so far is my boat where person can rest even due Spartan way of life, while every day’s nutrition is reduced to sandwiches and Elaine’s survival food (occasionally restaurants ). Because of this way of living in a 6,5 meter boat, most of my stuff was in the trunk of my car which was also my closet . How insecure place Port Camargue is I have discovered when someone broke into my car which was parked in front of the reception building and stole all of my stuff. Literally I was left with only one shorts and T-shirt in which I was sleeping. Notebook, bag with my clothes as well with electronic devices and instruments for boat were stolen. ![]() Boat is still called Tribunj It was a huge loss for very low, not to say no-budget of this project. I’ve borrowed some equipment, clothes and managed to repair broken door and windshield on the car which is very expensive in France. ![]() Sweet, salty and survival Both od us, Kreso and myself are in very good mood and ready for sailing. We’ll give our best to compete with the fastest boats in the Med fleet. Since we don’t have transmitters on boats, it won’t be possible to follow regatta live, but there will be lot of information about it on the official web site: minimax2006.blogspot.com ![]()
